Privacy Policy

Sukoon Tab (“we”, “the extension”) is a Chrome new tab extension. This policy describes what information the extension uses, where it is stored, and which third-party services may be contacted when you use Sukoon Tab.

Summary

• We do not operate user accounts or sell personal data.
• We do not run application servers that store your personal data.
• Most data stays on your device or in your Chrome sync profile.
• Location is used only when you enable prayer times or weather.
• Sukoon Tab Plus purchases are handled by Dodo Payments, our payment and licensing provider.

Information we do not collect

Sukoon Tab does not:

• Require you to create an account with us
• Collect your name, email, or payment details directly
• Track browsing history outside the new tab page
• Send analytics or advertising data to the developer
• Store your location on developer-operated servers

Data stored on your device

The extension stores the following using Chrome extension storage:

• Settings — theme, widget toggles, clock format, prayer calculation method, display name, and similar preferences. These are saved in Chrome sync storage and may sync across devices if you use Chrome Sync.
• Daily content cache — today’s ayah, hadith, and dua, stored locally to reduce repeat network requests.
• Curated ayah catalog cache — a local copy of the ayah reference list used for daily ayah rotation, refreshed periodically from a developer-hosted static file when updates are available.
• Saved favorites — ayahs, hadiths, and duas you save with Sukoon Tab Plus, stored locally on your device. With favorites sync on (the default for Plus), a list of references to them (type, id, save time; not the text) is also kept in Chrome sync storage so it follows your Chrome profile.
• Location coordinates — latitude, longitude and a city name, stored locally when you allow location access or choose a city for prayer times or weather.
• Shortcuts — links you add on the new tab page, stored locally.
• Custom background image — if you choose your own background, a resized copy is stored locally on this device only. It is never uploaded or synced.
• Plus license data — if you activate Sukoon Tab Plus, your license key, its activation ID, an activation label, and the time it was last checked are saved in chrome.storage.sync. With Chrome Sync on, they follow your Chrome profile, so one activation covers every computer where you use that profile. Whether Plus is on is worked out on each computer and stored locally.

Geolocation

If you enable prayer times or weather, the extension may request your device location through the browser’s geolocation API. This is used only to calculate prayer times and show approximate local weather. The city name shown is looked up offline in a list bundled with the extension (city data © GeoNames, CC BY 4.0); your coordinates are not sent to a geocoding service.

Instead of sharing your device location, you can search for your city in Settings. A chosen city is saved on this device and is not refreshed in the background.

Coordinates are saved locally so the extension does not need to request location on every new tab. While location access is allowed, they are refreshed in the background at most every 12 hours. You can deny location access; prayer times and weather will not work until location is available, or until you update location again from Settings after granting permission.

We do not receive or store your location on our own servers.

Third-party services

When you use Sukoon Tab, the extension may contact these services:

• Al Quran Cloud (alquran.cloud) — fetches Quran Arabic text and English translations for daily ayahs. Only ayah references are sent, not personal information.
• MET Norway (api.met.no) — fetches weather forecasts when the weather widget is enabled. Requests include approximate coordinates (rounded to 4 decimals). Weather data from MET Norway is licensed under CC BY 4.0.
• Dodo Payments (dodopayments.com) — activates, validates, and deactivates Sukoon Tab Plus license keys when you choose to use Plus. See the next section.
• GitHub Pages (pages.github.com) — may fetch an updated curated ayah reference list (Quran surah/ayah references only, no personal information). A bundled copy ships with the extension and is used if the remote file is unavailable. If you remove Sukoon Tab, Chrome opens a short feedback page hosted there; its address includes only the extension version.

Hadiths and duas are bundled inside the extension. The curated ayah list is also bundled, with optional periodic updates from the developer-hosted file above.

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review those policies if you want more detail about how those providers handle data.

Payments and licensing (Sukoon Tab Plus)

Sukoon Tab Plus is optional. Purchases are processed by Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record. When you buy Plus, Dodo Payments collects payment and customer information (such as email) according to its own privacy policy. We do not receive your payment card details.

After purchase, Dodo Payments provides a license key by email. If you activate Plus in the extension:

• The extension sends your license key and an activation label (a random name, not linked to you) to Dodo Payments to register the activation.
• The extension periodically sends your license key and activation ID to Dodo Payments to confirm the license is still valid.
• If you remove the license from Settings, the extension asks Dodo Payments to deactivate the activation, freeing its seat.

Checkout opens in a new browser tab on Dodo Payments’ website when you choose to upgrade. The extension does not embed payment forms inside the new tab page. The checkout address includes the extension’s ID and which button you used (Settings or Saved), so that after paying you return to our purchase page. That page shows your key and can pass it to the extension when you click Activate in Sukoon Tab. The key goes from the page straight to the extension in your browser; nothing is sent to us.

Chrome permissions

Sukoon Tab requests the following Chrome permissions:

• storage — save settings, favorites, cache, shortcuts, and license data
• alarms — re-check Plus license status once a day and time prayer notifications
• geolocation — calculate prayer times and weather when enabled
• favicon — show website icons for shortcuts you add
• notifications (optional) — asked for only when you turn on prayer time notifications in Settings; they are created on your device from your saved location
• search — send what you type in the search box to your browser's default search engine; Sukoon Tab does not store or log your searches

Children’s privacy

Sukoon Tab is a general-purpose new tab extension and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be reflected in that date.
